COLOMBIA: Row over post triggers foreign affairs shake-up

Just before leaving her post the foreign minister, Carolina Barco, felt compelled to state that there had been 'no pressure from the US' in the row over the ambassadorial appointment of former president Ernesto Samper, which had precipitated a major upheaval in the upper reaches of Colombian diplomacy. Left carrying the blame was the former ambassador to the US, ex-president Andrés Pastrana.
